can not open SVG files in CorelDraw X4

Postby k_harney@yahoo.com on Sun, 08 Aug 2010 00:31:25 GMT

i opened one exported SVG file in CorelDraw X4. and then i went to set the vector application program and i couldn't fine an .exe file for Corel, so i saw a file that was an application file under programs. i assumed it was an exe file. i changed the set vector format to SVG, then i went to open the next SVG file i exported and it keeps crashing Corel?? i can open a PDF exported file but that file is not editable. so i tried importing into a .cdr file and opening an .svg file in CorelDraw. i can import when i set the vector format to PDF, but that creates a bitmap. i can still open the original .svg file i created in Alchemy before i set the vector application program. i think setting the vector application program has caused the errors. i even re-installed the program and restarted the computer

any work arounds, fixes?? what have i done???

thank you, i love this program...

You might want to try reseting the Alchemy preferences.

- On Windows this is done by opening the registry: Start > Run... > Type in 'regedit.exe' and hit enter > Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\org\ > Right click and delete the 'alchemy' folder

Which will clean out the switch application settings.

The PDF file is pure vector data, but CorelDraw must convert it to bitmap.
Does it work if you 'Export; using SVG from Alchemy, as opposed to 'Switch Vector'?
