Sun Java 6 Runtime is installed, still can't start Alchemy. Does the Java virtual machine need to be started first? I'm guessing no, but it's all I can think of.

What happens when you run the commands from the 'Alchemy' file directly in the terminal?
ie, something like
Code: Select all
java -jar ./Alchemy.jar

It should spit out an error I imagine.

That got it to run!

So why doesn't double clicking the Alchemy file work?

More stupid questions -

In the manual, it says "The file is saved to the session directory . . ."

Where should this be? I can't seem to find one.

Does Page Setup do anything, or is it still under construction?

BTW, when I export a .pdf, the gradients are lost.

I'm not much of a Linux guru, so not sure why the Alchemy file was no good.

In theory on the Desktop, but you can set it in the Preferences/Options.

I'm checking the Alchemy .pdf in Evince Document Viewer 2.22.2 and GIMP 2.6.0. Neither one is picking up the gradients. The shapes are there, but they are solid fills.

Alchemy won't load it either, it says "Please select a .pdf document created by Alchemy."

Hi!

I have encountered with a JNI library problem on my Ububtu Jaunty (Alchemy 007)

19-Aug-09 9:06:23 AM jpen.provider.NativeLibraryLoader$4 run
INFO: loading JNI library: jpen-2 ...
19-Aug-09 9:06:23 AM jpen.provider.NativeLibraryLoader$4 logOnFail
INFO: jpen-2 couldn't be loaded
19-Aug-09 9:06:23 AM jpen.provider.NativeLibraryLoader load
INFO: no suitable JNI library found

I'm loking now how to get appropriate library.
Any suggestions please? Thanks.

Are you using a pen tablet?
If so can you give JPen a try (Alchemy uses this library)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jpen/
Lets see if it gives you the same errors.
