Background Transparency (not just in fullscreen)

Thanks for all your efforts and for listening to our suggestions.

Would it be possible to have the option of a transparent background (not just in fullscreen) which is preserved in the saved files?

I'll let you in on a little secret
Transparent, is not 'transparent', but simply a screen capture of the desktop mapped on to the background of Alchemy.

So if you have video in the background it won't update in the Alchemy window.
Likewise if we were to have a 'transparent' non-fullscreen window, then move another window behind that... the background would not update.

Anyway, unfortunately java is pretty limited with this regard. There are several hacks around to do this, but nothing worked as good as plain old faking it.

Ah yes ! My clever bf pointed that out.

I guess what I really would love is an alpha channel.
