PCM shapes

Ideas that we are planning to implement in the near future

PCM shapes

Postby Satrip on Sat, 17 Oct 2009 10:24:00 GMT

Hi,
I've started using Mic Shapes on Windows version, using the music I listen to for creating shapes, as it's possible there to set recording on the "Mix" channel in the soundcard settings
(so each sound the computer play goes in the "mic" channel.)

So I've tried to do the same on Linux, but there it's not possible to do this mic channel setting (only choice between mic, front mic, line and cd, no "mix" or pcm.)

So I'm wondering if it's possible to do a new "PCM shape" module copying the "MIC shape" one, just changing the mic channel value with the pcm channel.
Or maybe add an option to select/switch the audio channel.

(ps: And same thing for "Mic expand" mode.)

Thanks.

Gotta revive this idea thread... cause this would be a great feature! This would allow for a ton of cool audio control experiments without the pain or cost of external gear!

I agree this would be useful, but I am not entirely sure how to handle sound input in Java.
I have a feeling it depends on the actual hardware as well as the OS.

Let me move this to the planned ideas forum...
