Quad strip brush & pattern brushes

As many of you know it is possible to create custom brushes in illustrator - I understand this is a massive feature request, so I have scaled it down to one main request.

I would love to see a Quad Strip brush. Basically it segments your stroke into relatively equa-distant quad polygons. This can then be imported into 3D software to extrue and what not.
