If you prefer your own native tongue or hate English you might like to help out and translate Alchemy - no programming required!
Here's how you do it:

1 - Check out the English language localisation here
2 - Translate!
3 - Send it on to [alchemy [at] al [dot] chemy [dot] org] or let us know about it by posting back in this thread

Good luck!

EDIT - As of April 9, 2009, we have these languages covered:
+ English
+ Japanese
+ Simplified Chinese
+ Traditional Chinese
+ French
+ Dutch
+ German
+ Spanish
+ Polish

yeah this actually a very effective tool, i love it to use

Although this is a great idea, I for one really dislike having programs in my native language. Since I've used English for years and years on end in a digital enviroment, doing it in my native language is more like a hassle or a chore or even slowing me down.

Therefor, I want to know how to turn off this automatic localisation.

Well, that did the job, although now I'm not satisfied with the time and date being AM/PM and MM-DD-YYYY. Good thing you can customize these things.

In attached the screen You can notice problem with font. Current font doesn't support Polish language and doesn't have propper sings.

I think this is actually my fault when I copied the Polish localisation over.
There is garbled text in the current version, because it didn't copy across properly.
In the next version it should be ok.

The current font is not actually specified as a concrete font, but rather just asks for a "sansserif" font.
So in theory Java should give a font that is native to the localised OS.

Traditional Chinese:
Code: Select all
--------
exportFormat = 格式
exportWidth = 寬度
exportHeight = 高度
exportPercent = 百分比
exportOptions = 圖像選項
exportTransparency = 透明度

imageExportErrorDialogTitle = 無法保存圖像
imageExportErrorDialogMessage = 保存圖像過程中出現錯誤.

flipHorizontal = 水平翻轉
flipVertical = 垂直翻轉

By the way Karl DD, have you managed to find a solution that we can translate the text which is not included in the main language file?
(the text which is included in each individual plugin 'module')?

Yeah, it is good you bring that up because it got me thinking about it again...
That said, I think it will have to wait to the next release.
I have opened a topic on the 'bug' here: known-bugs/topic442.html
