Questions/discussion about contributing to Alchemy

From my understanding, Context Free is non-interactive.
In the sense that you make 'design grammars' in code then run it to see the result.

With Alchemy there is a delicate balance between, 'shapes being drawn' and 'drawing shapes'.
The thing I like about Levins piece, is that is obvious how the line is being produced and it really feels like the performer is making that line.
Contrast that with say, an iTunes visualiser which is completely non-interactive (from a artist perspective), but very closely tied to the sound input.

With that aside, there could be some nice stuff to learn from Context Free.
Certainly a lot of inspiration in the gallery.

You are right to a certain degree, what we could change is that each of the specific probabilities that a user adds to context free can be turned into variables which would change with the sound input in real time, which would mean that the user is changing the rules in the way that he produces music. Thats why I thought it could be more complex as you could define different tempo's as different shapes and blend between them in real time. Instead of just a line which moves around as in that demo application.

What else was in that presentation?

The video was very interesting, I am meeting with one of the professors to get my project accepted on thursday.. so hopefully I can possibly help you take this further for the next couple of months..

I'll try to concentrate on the sound library that you linked to, apart from that have you set any development goals or do you have any burning passion to implement any kind of feature? ;)
