Menu Bar Not Hiding

I just downloaded the program to a new computer and the menu bar is visible full time. I've tried to reload it a few times and the problem persists. Am I missing something?

guess i can try to help with this, i have been working with some of the code in this area.
by the "menu bar" do you mean the full disappearing toolbar with the color, create, affect, clear, etc.... or just the menu bar with file, edit, view, session, etc?
what operating system are you using?
what version of Alchemy are you using?
Have you had the same problem on multiple computers?
Is your java up to date?
