Not at all, I think its good for the software to improve.
For now Alchemy has a working solution, all I am doing is substituting the JPen lib, not code change is necessary.

I guess there are a few options for testing on 10.4.
+ Ask Olek or other Alchemy 10.4 users nicely
+ Try and hijack someone else's computer at school or work
+ Do some kind of virtual install, vmware you mentioned, but a quick search also pulled this up (although it is for PC):
